"Evoke[s] the exhilarating unpredictability of urban life. . . . Gwyn's plot is humming." --"The Washington Post" "At once an absurdist riddle, a romantic quest, and a love letter to our anti-hero's chosen home, Gwyn's witty and assured first novel is as much about the different ways you can tell a story as it is about the story itself." --"The New Yorker" "A delightful cornucopia of thriller trappings, history lessons, existential ruminations and cheeky asides. . . . Destined to be a cult classic." --"Philadelphia City Paper" "Gwyn leaves many of his mysteries veiled, while providing enough detail to avert readers from a head start. . . . Beautifully precise." --"Newsday" "A wild but entertaining ride through historic Barcelona. . . . The writing is delicious." --"Deseret Morning News" "From the Trade Paperback edition."
Richard Gwyn is an established poet and editor with five collections and one anthology in print. Born in Wales, he has lived in Greece, France, and Catalunya. He teaches creative writing at Cardiff University.

Soft cover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. 1ST EDITION, 1ST PRINT, SIGNED BY AUTHOR TO TITLE PAGE. Absolutely as new, unread. Is it a thriiler, literary fiction, historical fiction? It is SENSATIONAL STUFF. Title originally published as pbo in May 2005. Was been the Book of the Month at Waterstones, Ottakers & W H Smiths. A y massive mass market p/back publication is due out anytime and is to be featured gain t WH Smiths, Waterstones & Ottakers. Clever, stylish and supremely entertaining, this Barcelona set novel by a Welsh poet offers a feast of sophisticated pleasures and a taste of deeper passions too. Our Welsh-Spanish hero, lonely and adrift in the city's Barrio Gótico, meets a glamorous girl in the Miro museum one day and finds himself drawn into the life of underground street-people and, in the Pyrenees, into a surviving Cathar sect? Gwyn knows all the potential for silly hokum here, but leavens the airport-pulp chase and conspiracy elements with a suave narrative drive and a beguiling immersion in Catalan culture.
