Unimprovably good LONDON REVIEW OF BOOKS The reissue deserves a warm welcome... a friendly, well informed companion, catholic in content and comfortable in presentation, neglecting nothing essential and confirming that a lifetime is needed to sample Lakeland to the full... I would without hesitation put this plump and knowledgeable companion into the top ten modern, one-volume guide books to the Lake District: it's the kind of book that transforms a visit into an experience.
