Bohn's Antiquarian Library was an important Victorian series of translations of major medieval sources, such as Henry of Huntingdon, Roger of Wendover, William of Malmesbury and many others. There were 45 volumes in the series, published by the great Henry G. Bohn (1796-1884), whose phenomenal output of cheap editions of classic literature must have done a great deal to promote science and culture and enthusiasm for learning in the nineteenth century. Many of his titles are now available in print on demand technology, and many of the translations in this series remain the only published translation of those texts. This pamphlet provides a history of the series, including an account of how it started in a dispute with a rival publisher, David Bogue. There is a complete catalogue of the 45 volumes in the Antiquarian Library, each listed with a collation of content and a critical commentary on the sources used by the translators.
