About the Author:

John Tranter grew up on a farm on the south-east coast of Australia. He attended country schools, and was awarded a degree in 1970 after attending university sporadically. Since then he has worked mainly in teaching, publishing and radio drama and features production for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He has travelled widely and undertaken a number of reading tours of the USA, England and Europe in recent years. He has received several senior fellowships and other grants from the Literature Board of the Australia Council.

John Tranter compiled and edited (with Philip Mead) the Bloodaxe Book of Modern Australian Poetry and is the author of fourteen books of verse. He has been published widely in magazines around the world. He is the editor of the free Internet quarterly literary magazine 'Jacket'.
