Synopsis
Canterbury Voices is a unique compilation of first-hand stories and photographs of New Zealand history based on more than 70 years of recordings from the Radio New Zealand Sound Archives. From the hundreds of hours of Canterbury material held, Jim Sulllivan has chosen 40 stories which reflect diverse aspects of the province's history. The first-hand accounts range from an old man recalling the great Timaru shipwrecks of 1882 to a woman recalling her first trip by motor car to Mount Cook in the early 1900s, from a Canterbury All Black remembering lunch with Mum before the big game to moving stories from the Ballantynes fire of 1947.
