From the Author:
Insights on writing and researching Positive Politics
Having worked in organisations as a management consultant for more than twelve years I was always intrigued by the political interplays that went on, plots which often outdid any of Shakesphere's best dramas. I had been the victim of many a negative political play myself and survived to tell my tale around the water fountain with all the others. But I also observed another style of politics operating within organisations, one that was positive in nature, that focused on collaborative effort and the meeting of shared goals, but politics never the less.

On starting to conduct my research I discovered that most people saw politics in their organisation as a negative and destructive force, yet, a force essential to any successful operation. What slowly began to emerge from behind the prevailing negative view was a notion that there was actually a positive approach politics at work. In fact once people were able to put their bad political experiences behind them they were able to identify people they knew, and often admired, that were political players but did it in a positive way. From this finding Positive Politics was born.

I always wanted the book to be a practical guide, a map to help people tip-toe through the mine field of politics in their organisation. So far Positive Politics has done really well in Australia and I continually get feedback from people expressing how it is helping them understand and deal with politics in their work place. I trust it does the same for you.

If you have any comments or insights I really would like to hear from you.
