Synopsis
A source of never-ending pleasure to aviation buffs is the flamboyant individual "nose art" pieces blazoned on warplanes by generations of military flyers. This art form, which reached a "golden age" with the pin-ups and wisecracks adorning US aircraft between 1942 and 1945, seemed to have been largely stamped out by bureaucrats during the last 30 years. However, this form of art seems to have been revived with the return of nose art during the Gulf War.
