When the Department for Education and Employment decided to commit ?4m to the Laptop Initiative for Adult and Community Learning, it was anticipated that there would be a major impact on the use of technology among tutors and organisations. The range and scale of this influence has been dramatic. For many organisations this initiative was the first time that they had worked in adult and community learning with laptops and ICT equipment.
