Roger Horwood began woodworking at school in High Wycombe, England (the centre of the British wooden chair-making industry). In 1969 he moved to South Africa, where he has continued to work with wood, building just about every type of free-standing furniture - both modern and period pieces - in a variety of soft, hard and exotic woods. Roger is also the author of Step-by-Step Wooden Toys published by New Holland Publishers.
Synopsis:
This reference for woodworkers offers information on relevant materials and tools, and describes the essentials of measuring, marking, cutting and joining, wood turning, antiquing and restoration, all using a variety of ecologically-sound soft and hard woods. It also features practical projects.
