I wrote this book as a satire of an ugly image foisted on me by the British tabloids during the summer of 1999, and was never intended to be taken seriously. I take it as an oddly flattering compliment people assumed the character was really me. The experience reminded me of Jonathan Swift's odyssey when he wrote "A Modest Proposal", an essay suggesting the key to solving the Irish famine was for the poor to sell their babies to the rich as food. He was such a great satirist, many took the essay for real!
