Three young Germans emigrate to Australia with no knowledge of the country or its language in this novel set in the 1960s. Soon they find jobs erecting farm buildings in the outback, and spend their money on women and fast cars upon every return to the city. Eventually the men begin to settle down, so much so that when one revisits his north German home, he finds he is unable to pick up the threads of his old life. Filled with odd and amusing tales, this story conveys the trials and tribulations of adjusting to life in a foreign land with little other than a keen enthusiasm and a willingness to adapt.

From the Publisher:
Once Three Jolly Swagmen is a great read, very enjoyable.
From the Author:
A reviewer of my book has described it as being by turns a funny and poignant novel, and conjures up life on the open road in the dusty Outback marvellously.
I have tried to give the story the authentic background of the Australian bush; describe the typical Aussie character and not forget the humorous side of 'living beyond the black stump'.
