Danny S. Parker is a game designer and author of World War II books. From the late 1980s, he worked as a researcher on the Ardennes Campaign for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. He has a master's degree from the University of Montana. The book includes rare photographs from American, British, and German sources, as well as stirring commentary which details the entire campaign. The book breaks new ground on one of the greatest military campaigns of history using previously unavailable sources. Here are just a few facets of the Battle of the Bulge included for the first time: A secret communiqué delivered by General Strong to General Eisenhower a few days before the German offensive warned of the possibility of a German attack in the Ardennes; The German operation began with only enough fuel to carry the panzers less than half the distance to Antwerp; The Allied High Command worried that the Ardennes Offensive might be designed to buy time for development of German secret weapons; The Germans did not know U.S. fuel dumps were located. On December 16, 1944, Hitler launched his last desperate offensive of World War II, a final great gamble designed to smash his American and British attackers. Danny Parker's ground-breaking Battle of the Bulge was a Military Book Club Main selection. This 320 page book features 275 rare photographs, 18 new maps, and a specially painted cover by Don Stivers, as well as special sections on why the Germans lost and why the Allies won. Critical acclaim for Battle of the Bulge has included:"Danny Parker has written a valuable guide to the history of Hitler's last offensive in the West, which contains particularly useful perspectives on the nature of German operations. Students of the battle will find the divisional maps and orders of battle an informative source of information.". Seller Inventory # 79722
