Synopsis
Richard Dunwoody is only the fourth jockey in the history of National Hunt racing to have ridden over 1000 winners in Britain. In this book he chronicles the ups and downs of a jockey's life through the 1993/4 season, in which he fought an extraordinary battle with Adrian Maguire for the jockeys' championship. Dunwoody was the reigning champion, with Martin Pipe's stable to provide him with a constant supply of winners; Maguire was the young pretender, believed by many to be the most talented young jockey since Dunwoody himself. The book provides an account of the battle between these two outstanding jockeys, and also an insight into the dedication, courage and skill which have taken Dunwoody to the top.
