Synopsis
Severiano Ballesteros, the most exciting player of his generation, burst on the golf scene in 1976, when, aged 19, he set afire the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, finally finishing second to his friend Johnny Miller. Photographer Phil Sheldon was there, capturing the Spaniard's famous audacious pitch into the final green, a chip that has come to be known as the Shot Heard Round the World. Since then, Sheldon, perhaps the world's most dedicated golf photographer, has been alert to the Spaniard's moments of triumph and despair at the great championships on both sides of the Atlantic.
