Rock n roll during the 1950s drastically changed popular music and became an influential element in teenage culture across the nation. By the early 1950s, radio stations were paying attention to the popularity of rhythm and blues. The popularity of Rock n Roll was making its recording artists instant stars: Bill Haley and The Comets became a hit with their song Rock Around the Clock when it was used in the movie Blackboard Jungle in 1955. Elvis Presley gained stardom with his release Heartbreak Hotel in 1956. The Golden Age of Rock n Roll is a brilliant combination of music and a highly illustrated history of the early years of Rock n Roll through the stories behind the songs and these artists. Their importance is self evident: Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley were all in the first group of inductees into the Ohio Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Museum in 1986; Eddie Cochran, Bill Haley, Carl Perkins, and The Coasters in 1987. The CD shows how even though the songs are over 50 years old, they have stayed the course of time and still have a remarkable freshness and vitality.
