Sacred Activism is Compassion in Action -
the marriage of practical action with spiritual wisdom
to create a holy force capable of transforming our
world crisis and preserving our planet.
'When a generation is very, very lucky, it encounters
a teacher so illumined that the words he delivers must
be illumined as well. In the case of Andrew Harvey, the
light he sheds is like a meteor burst across the inner sky.'
Marianne Williamson
'Andrew is a genius and an inspired visionary.'
Caroline Myss
Written clearly and concisely, Harvey details the seven laws necessary for
sacred activism, from the importance of incorporating a spiritual
practice in your life to the transformation of anger into passion, and
the significance of community.
Just as Julia Cameron in The Artist's Way gave millions of people a
precise and interactive handbook to help them discover and explore their
creativity, The Hope gives the most practical possible help to all those who
realize the urgent truth of our world - that these troubled times offer a
gateway for dramatic and positive change - and who want to act as
effectively as possible from wisdom and compassion.
Andrew Harvey was born in south India in 1952. At 18, he moved
to England to attend Oxford University, where he later taught,
and for 30 years he plunged into myriad mystical traditions to learn their
secrets and practices. He was the subject of the BBC film documentary
The Making of a Modern Mystic, and is the founder and director of the
Institute for Sacred Activism. He is also the author of many influential
spiritual classics including Hidden Journey and Return of the Mother.
