Author Mark Vella has been involved in the field of health and fitness for more than 15 years, as a personal training instructor, lifestyle counsellor and massage therapist, and he is also a practising naturopath. He lectures to fitness professionals on a variety of health science topics, including anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, health assessment, medical screening, fitness testing, training methods and principles, postural assessment, programming, exercise prescription and nutrition, and has been active in developing standards and manuals for fitness trainers in his native South Africa. Consultant Dr Nick Walters, an exercise physiologist with more than 20 years' experience, is currently vice principal and head of research at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in London.
