Synopsis
Harvey Jordan is The Namedropper, a man who has become a multi-millionaire stealing and adopting other people's ID to strip them of their assets. He only uses his real name during the luxury vacations he allows himself in his favoured South of France. It is there that he meets Alyce Appleton, the deceived and betrayed wife of New York commodity dealer and millionaire Alfred Appleton. Jordan and Alyce enjoy a no-commitment affair. She returns to New York. Jordan goes back to England to a new assumed identity and a new scam.A bombshell awaits him: his affair with Alyce was recorded in every detail by New York private detectives. Not only is Jordan being cited by Alfred Appleton in a divorce action against Alyce, he is additionally being sued under North Carolina's historic early settler civil law of 'criminal conversation' - a multi-million dollar marriage wrecking damages claim. During the ensuing court case, Jordan plans his own type of revenge on Appleton - the identity stealing kind - and in so doing discovers the murky depths of Appleton's past...
