Synopsis:
This is the new Inspector Woodend mystery. A man in his late twenties is found hanging from a bridge, though his injuries indicate he was dead before the hanging. A second man is found hanged from a crane. It's now up to Detective Chief Inspector Charlie Woodend to find a common link between the two. Soon, it becomes clear that the men did their military service together in Cyprus and a couple of dozen other men from Whitebridge. When a third ex-soldier disappears, Detective Sergeant Monika Paniatowski is sent to Cyprus. There she uncovers a long-buried tale involving a local girl and a stolen Land Rover. Back in Whitebridge, Woodend is determined to solve the case before another ex-soldier is found hanged...
