Review:
'Brave horses, strong horses, horses flying, galloping and prancing - all are celebrated in these passionate stories from many cultures.' --The Guardian
'Dashingly retold by Josepha Sherman and sumptuously illustrated, this is a stirring collection to read aloud.' --Child Education, top 50 books of 2005
'Horses in fairy tales more often than not have magical powers, either flight, invisibility or at the very least galloping faster than the wind. Magic Hoofbeats contains eight such tales retold by Josepha Sherman, ranging from North American to Basque, Russian to Albanian, and she writes an introduction to each about the different breeds of horse. Linda Wingerter's glowing, enamelled-effect illustrations add panache.' --Children's Bookseller
