Carol Ann Duffy is an acclaimed poet and playwright who has also written many picture books. Her book of children's poetry, Meeting Midnight, was short-listed for the Whitbread Children's Book of the Year, 2000 and her latest collection, Rapture was the winner of 2006 T.S. Eliot Prize. Carol Ann lives in England with her daughter, Ella. The Tear Thief is her first authored book with Barefoot. She has also written the introduction to The Barefoot Book of Classic Poems Nicoletta Ceccoli was born and still lives in San Marino, Italy, with her family and two pet hens. Since studying at the State Institute of Art in Urbino, she has illustrated a number of children's titles for prominent Italian publishers. Selected three times for exhibition at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, Nicoletta was awarded the prestigious Andersen Prize in 2000, honouring her as the best children's book illustrator in Italy.
