The Cathedral Clinic is an expensive alternative therapy centre within an exclusive and very peaceful setting. This makes it all the more shocking when the head of the clinic, Sebastian Kingsley, is brutally murdered there. DCI Simon, himself a visitor at the clinic only the day before, returns in a very different role to try and solve the case. With the murder victim being the nephew of the dean of the cathedral, the pressure is on Simon to keep the investigation discreet, despite heated media interest. Then the victim is revealed to have been a control freak with a volatile temper and a more complex personal life than at first appears. With several motives emerging and a second violent death throwing his case into disarray, Simon must pull together the threads to catch a killer.
