"Such a gathering of writers and artists could not fail to provide a rewarding experience for children and adults to share. Some 'round about six' [year-olds] could read the book independently but that would be a lost opportunity for any adults available to enjoy it with them. The book is beautifully produced...and looks attractive and inviting." -- Child Education
Kaye Webb was greatly loved and respected for her contribution to the children's book world. As publishing director of the children's division of Penguin, she was one of the first female directors in British publishing. She was founder of the Puffin Club, which put her in direct contact with the tastes and interests of children all over the country, and she was a prolific editor and anthologist. Her death in 1996 was a sad loss to young readers everywhere.
