As the reader flicks through the book, the titles of the plays build up to form an image of the great playwright, who cheekily winks at us from the page. The 37 plays appear in the order of the First Folio of 1623, ending with Pericles, Prince of Tyre, added to the collection in the Third Folio of 1664. The date of each work is given on its first appearance.

About the Author:

A first generation Londoner born in Whitechapel in 1914, Abram Games OBE RDI designed some of the most iconic and recognisable images of British graphic design in the twentieth century. His work was known for its efficiency, directness and humour, and included public information posters, advertisements, book jackets and stamps. During World War II, he held the position of Official War Poster Designer, and also produced images for Transport for London, British Airways, the Financial Times and Guinness. Most famously, he designed the logo for the Festival of Britain in 1951. His motto was 'maximum meaning, minimum means'.
