About the Author:
E. ESTYN EVANS (1905-1987) founded the Department of Geography, Queen's University, Belfast, in 1928; helped establish the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra, and was the first Director of the Institute of Irish Studies in 1970. His earlier book include Irish Heritage (1942), Mourne Country (1951), Prehistoric and Early Christian Ireland (1967), The Personality of Ireland (1973) and Ireland and the Atlantic Heritage (1996).
