This bright, glossy hardcover book is likely to attract any newcomer to "The Art of Good Husbandry and Daily Care in Keeping these Lovely and Challenging Creatures". when they are browsing the shelves for information on the subject. Author Valarie Hitch clearly intends her book to be read before obtaining one or more goats and, with hindsight, many owners would have wished for such a goodie before aquiring theirs. This is an interesting read aimed primarily at the would-be 'pet' goat keeper and, as such, should find a place on many book shelves for it is a good general introduction and is clearly written with the best interests of these animals at heart. A nmix between simplicity and ocmplexity it offers a useful guide for parent and child inthusiasts who might wish to add goat keeping to family interests, and for breeders with the potential sale of an animal, this little volume might usefully accompany the purchase to its new home. --Krya Somerfield, The British Goat Society Monthly Journal November 2009 248
