About the Author:

Jonas Hassen Khemiri is an award-winning Swedish novelist and playwright. Khemiri's debut novel, Ett öga rött (One Eye Red), was published in 2003 and sold over 200,000 copies in Sweden, becoming the best-selling novel of any category in 2004. Khemiri's second novel, Montecore: en unik tiger (Montecore - The Silence of the Tiger), received Sveriges Radio's Novel Prize for Best Swedish Novel of 2007, while his first play, Invasion!, was chosen for the 2007 Swedish Theater Biennial and has been performed in France, Germany, the UK, and Norway. Khemiri also wrote the play We Who Are Hundred, which won the Hedda Award, Norway's top theatrical award, for the best play of 2010 Rachel Willson-Broyles is a freelance translator who specializes in contemporary literature. She received her BA in Scandinavian Studies from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2002 and her PhD in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. Her other translations include Jonas Hassen Khemiri's novel Montecore and play INVASION! and Jonas Jonasson's The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden.
