One of the first difficulties that English speakers encounter when they start to learn French is that each noun has a gender. There is a common belief that the gender of each noun has to be memorised, as there aren't rules that you can follow.

Maria Rice-Jones is a French national with a Masters Degree in Modern Languages from the Sorbonne University in Paris. Since 1990, she has taught French to students of primary level and above in Paris, Milan and London. It has now been formalized into various resources at the encouragement of her pupils and colleagues.
