Bradman and Wisden are two names synonymous with cricket. More than that, they have in their unique ways entered the English language as shorthand for statistical achievements, records and authority. However, Sir Donald Bradman's cricketing career was more about run-making and Wisden Cricketers' Almanack has always been more than a record book. Bradman in Wisden gives the scores of Sir Donald's 234 first-class games, his 52 Test Matches for Australia and minor matches played on four tours of England. But these give only part of his story. About the Author:
Graeme Wright was Editor of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack from 1986 to 1992, and again for the 2001 and 2002 editions. A New Zealander, he is the only non-Englishman to hold this position. His hard-hitting Notes by the Editor prompted the Daily Telegraph to comment that he 'raised the quality of the editorial to a philosophical art form'. His cricket books include the acclaimed and controversial Betrayal: The Struggle for Cricket's Soul, described by one critic as 'one of the most enlightened, thoughtful and disturbing books ever written on the game', A Wisden Collection and Wisden at Lord's.
