WHAT THIS BOOK IS... 1. A glossary with basic vocabulary, organized alphabetically in categories of nouns, adjectives, verbs and other important words (adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, connector words, etc.). Vocabulary may also be found in other sections of the book by category (e.g., food, animals, nature), normally listed Basque-English, sometimes (but not always) alphabetically. 2. A book for beginners or novices which includes only basic grammar. 3. A phrase book containing basic phrases useful in daily life. WHAT THIS BOOK IS NOT.... 1. This book is NOT a dictionary. There are Basque dictionaries available to be purchased on the internet or in other places. There are also free online dictionaries available (for example, I have personally found the Morris dictionary particularly helpful). 2. This book is NOT a glossary of special terminology related to certain topics or professions. 3. This is NOT a tourist guide book. It does not contain images, pictures or information regarding places of interest for tourists, nor does it contain other related information such as addresses or telephone numbers. 4. This is NOT a school text book or exercise book. This book does not contain exercises, videos or audio material. 5. This is NOT a book for advanced study. Basque is a very complicated language, and for that reason I have not attempted to explain the complexity of Basque verbal constructions, particularly regarding verb tenses or moods such as the past, future or subjunctive. The author has no university degree or formal studies in the Basque language and is by no means an expert regarding this wonderful but complex language. This book is best understood as a book for novices which has been written by a novice.
