Martin K. Manley's formal education ended after high school when he joined the workforce as a church sexton in Schenectady. A voracious reader, he went on to educate himself widely on history and politics and to indulge his love for poetry.
Martin also dedicated his life to activism, fighting for peace and social justice in his community, the nation and the world. A well-known figure as he rides his bicycle around his urban neighborhood, he also revels in the beauty of nature.
Only his closest friends knew that Martin was also writing poetry. These fresh, incisive, thought-provoking pieces, written between 1973 and 2014, contain musings on the world's turmoil, insights into relationships, and analysis of the human condition. With wry humor and lyrical descriptions, they reflect the life and thoughts of an unusual man.
