For more than 40 years, Epstein has remained a dogged investigator. From his dissection of Lee Harvey Oswald's ties to Soviet intelligence, to his account of Nixon-era crimes, as well as his widely-respected study of the CIA, Epstein has proved himself one of the most penetrating journalists in America. Epstein collects his investigations and adds dozens of new cases. From the Lindbergh Kidnapping to the JonBenet Ramsey case, from the Lincoln assassination to the death of Zia-ul-Haq, Epstein examines the world's most intriguing unsolved crimes.

'The World Trade Center's destruction on 9/11 is the obvious example of an event used to justify the expansion of security agencies. But for a compendium of these events it is well worth reading the newly published The Annals of Unsolved Crime by Edward Jay Epstein, one of the greatest American investigative journalists, a compelling and informed account of how crime and the needs of power and politics intertwine.' - The Independent
'The 54 'unsolved crimes' analysed in this stimulating book range in time from the Lincoln assassination and the 'Jack the Ripper' prostitute murders of the 19th century to the 21st-century murder of Meredith Kercher in Perugia and arrest of Dominique Strauss-Kahn in New York for the alleged sexual assault of a hotel maid... His account of the DSK affair shows how thorough an investigator he is.' --- The Spectator
