He is the author of The General and the Journalists: Ulysses S. Grant, Horace Greeley, and Charles Dana; Oblivion: The Mystery of West Point Cadet Richard Cox; and Brave Decisions: Moral Courage from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
