Celeste is a doctor's wife, living a perfect façade. But secretly, her marriage is falling apart and her need to control the people around her threatens to destroy them all. Her sister Ronnie is an actress, living in New York. Like Celeste, she pretends to be happy and successful, but in reality she has no money and no home, and her life is held together by 'chewing gum, paper clips, and spit'.
When their father dies, the sisters inherit a house in Prosper, North Carolina. Their mother, Della, would rather they forget about going there and dredging up the past. Neither of them suspects that their trip to Prosper will uncover decades-old secrets and family betrayals - or that it might finally bring these two strangers together.
About the Author
Virginia DeBerry and Donna Grant met while working as models. They later worked on the US's Maxima fashion magazine together as Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor and have appeared on numerous talk shows. They both live in New York state.
