Glenda Mooney, the fictional heroine of "Phases," grows up in a coal camp in rural Southeastern Kentucky with dreams of becoming a musician. Over the course of the novel, Glenda finds and loses both love and fame, and most importantly, finds herself.
A joyous, lesbian-themed novel, "Phases" could appeal to anyone with an interest in Appalachian literature or the history of rock 'n roll music. "Phases" has also received much positive attention as a young-adult novel, since the majority of the story takes place during Glenda's teen years.
The character of Glenda Mooney has won over critics in both the gay and straight press. And I must admit that Glenda is my favorite fictional creation. I hope that you enjoy meeting her.
