Tru North, is a bit like I am. She is intense in her work, committed to her profession, good at her job, a bit abbrasive to those who don't like strong women, and therefore, not always the darling of her supervisors. Tru North is intense about a lot of things...but she has a tendency to not be very revealing about her past, share her inner-most feelings, and she occastionally loves more intenyly than wisely. A bit complex, Tru North loves women but sometimes that love complicates her well-ordered life.
K.C. Bomber is the first of a series of murder mysteries staring Tru North. In the book she is pitted against a case involving package bombs. The case was assigned to her by her supervisor in hopes that she would fail. The supervisor does not think that homicide is a proper place for a woman. Frustrated by the case and love lost, Tru North finds herself spiralling down into two kinds of intimate danger. The mad bomber, learning of her investigation decides to target her, at the same time her heart is being targeted by the possibility of a new lover.
Since its creation, I have also had published, Penn Valley Phoenix, River Quay, and for 1999 a new mystery called Chimney Rock Blues.
I started my career in law enforcement at the tender age of 19. I had not intended to make law enforcement my career. Things change and so did I. After twenty plus years in law enforcement, I have had the pleasure of being everything from a patrol officer, to a detective, and finally a police chief. My training includes specialties in crimes against persons, homicide investigation, and some skills in forensics. My vocation provides for the connection to and creative weaving of stories which I will be using to continue the series of Tru North mysteries.
In the writing of the first Tru North, I enjoyed sharing investigative processes, the intensity of the main character, and the sites and sounds of Kansas City, Missroui. I hope you will enjoy this and other Tru North mysteries as much as I enjoy the creation and literary recreation of investigations in which I have been involved.
