Since many of Page's gardens gardens have perished, the book is not a complete catalogue, nor is it a biography, but it does provide a detailed account of Page's life and work, presenting where possible, the best and most representative of the hundreds of gardens he created. The brief chronology, extensive index and comprehensive acknowledgements page would make this a useful tool for scholars, though it's the photographs themselves that prove the greatest tribute to this great designer. About the Author:

Gabrielle van Zuylen was born in France and lived in Paris. She has written numerous other books on gardens and garden history. She died in 2010.
