My father, like most Danes, has always loved to travel. And in the late 1940s, he bicycled from one corner of Europe to the other. Fortunately, he kept a detailed journal. This story is inspired by one of his jaunts across Denmark, which I read about in his diary. But there’s an added twist of a period of history that has always fascinated me -- the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. In the years leading up to that event, Danish Jews turned their attention toward Palestine. In this story, Patrick and his Jewish friend Henrik find themselves in the middle of that exciting chapter of history.
