In 1973 I was working at a daycare in Coos Bay, Oregon. One of our favorite walks was to the local fire station. The Michael and Sheila in the story are two kids from the daycare who specialized in getting into trouble. They never actually stole a firetruck, but they asked me to make up a story where they did just that.
