Lori B. Rassas, Esq., is an SPHR-certified employment attorney with close to two decades of experience. She received an LL.M in Labor and Employment Law from New York University Law School; a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School; and a B.A. from Tufts University. Her first book, a textbook entitled Employment Law: A Guide to Hiring, Managing, and Firing for Employers and Employees (Wolters Kluwer, 3rd ed. 2017), lays out, in clear and concise terms, much of what she has learned about the legal rights and obligations of both employers and employees. Her second book, the #1 Amazon best-seller titled The Perpetual Paycheck, was featured on CNBC's The Power Lunch, and appeared in many publications such as AARP.org, nextavenue.org, and forbes.com. That book is a nuts-and-bolts guide to navigating the loyalty-free workplace, offering a contrarian approach backed up by actual current workplace experiences. In it, Lori provides practical, accessible job-finding secrets for those looking for a new job, those looking to solidify their current position, those looking to advance their position, and those looking to change careers or industries. Lori currently has her own consulting practice coaching job seekers on how to effectively navigate the workplace, offering live and web-based training workshops, and providing guidance on employment law and human resources matters. She also regularly gives career advice to students from diverse populations through her work as a member of the adjunct faculty at The Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University, Fordham University School of Law, The Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution at Cornell University, among others. Lori is also a recognized expert on employment law and career issues, has appeared on CNBC and has been quoted in a number of publications, including The New York Times, CNNMoney, Fortune, USA Today College, Newsday, American Medical News, and CareerBuilder.com.
