A First Nation's woman is found to have passed away under mysterious circumstances. She had previously been a patient at Riverview Hospital. The psychiatrist who treated her there is found murdered. The investigation reveals a plot that might involve others in the hospital and the investigators find themselves in great peril.

Dr Edward Waring is a retired Psychiatrist. He was the professor and head of the department of psychiatry at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario. He was a clinical Professor at UBC and was past president of both the Ontario and British Columbia Psychiatric Associations. He was awarded the gold medal in psychiatry at the University of Toronto during his residency. He is the author of Enhancing Marital Intimacy, Why Men Depress Women and the Waring Intimacy Questionnaire.
