An attempted military coup that is funded by elite white businessmen and disenfranchised Zulu nation, which is funded from poaching and redirected government funds, and to be armed by a South Korean businessman, is foiled by a Johannesburg reporter who stumbles upon the plot. A poaching cadre are captured in Tanzania, and found to be ex Special Forces based in Natal, they are hunting elephant and rhino. Deceit, double dealing and violence is used to prevent the information about the coup being printed in the press. The reporter, Angela Murchin, liaises with Don Scales the head warden of Tanzania to uncover the plot and in so doing involves the governments of Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique and the United Kingdom. The pair is hunted across Tanzania and Mozambique, but are then found and protected by the SAS, until they arrive safely in South Africa.
