Murder and mayhem, lust and deceit are unleashed in this story of conflicting passions. 'The Belle Fields' is a Victorian romance set against the pride and prejudices of the times but it is much more than that. It is also a story of raw passion, where lust, greed and self interest lead to a labyrinth of betrayal and heart ache. Emily Sylvester, one of the loveliest girls in her village, is passionately in love. Pregnant but unmarried, her secret affair would be deeply frowned upon by everyone if they got to know of it. Time will tell so people say and oh how she dreaded it. Unsure of what to do, Emily continues to work as a kitchen maid as a gypsy's predictions begin to unfold in a way she could never have imagined. However time and tide wait for no man and time was about to deal its hand. Like a leaf in a storm, Emily is inexorably drawn along as three very different but passionate young men try to influence the course of her life. Each one desires her, only one can truly win her heart but will her heart remain steady as it is buffeted and almost torn apart by life's tragedies

Read on to discover how this tale of love and passion unfolds and then read a little bit more to discover the thrilling conclusion in the gripping sequel “Ashes of Roses.”
About the Author:
About the Author Oh, the wonders of the world’s glorious past! Even as a child I loved delving into all those musty corners where unseen myriads have passed and left their mark or simply melted away into a melancholy oblivion. Endlessly fascinated I have prowled around the crumbling walls of ancient castles and stalked the halls of stately mansions in the vain hope of gaining some small insight into the lives of the shadowy presences that still linger. That said, I have no great aptitude for memorizing dates and out of the way places, it’s the human psyche that has me enthralled and I drink up the imagined passions and thoughts of our distant ancestors like a desert under a cloud burst. My joy and delight has ever been in reading a polished account of how, in ages past, this king or that, this duchess or another, felt and acted out their lives through the eyes of an empathetic author. I like to glean the cold hard facts through a soft shroud of human thoughts and emotions, however subjective those imaginings may be. Imagine my delight when on researching my own more recent ancestors I stumbled upon a story all of my own. Well, my family’s at least. Here was something to conjure with and my imaginings ran wild as I built a story around a thin skeleton of family legends and ‘The Belle Fields’ was born. I would like to say it was an easy birth but in truth it was more like a cesarean. I began, awkwardly stumbling along, swaying in the winds like an ancient gate creaking on its hinges, researching the Victorian way of life in an attempt to give my story some credibility. Until amazingly, pushed by the phantoms of the past, my characters developed form and presence and the words came rushing in a ceaseless torrent. This is a story, not of kings and princes; it is a story of flesh and bone, human emotions and frailties. This is my story, hope you enjoy it. Lora Adams is a retired primary school teacher living with her husband Brian in Yorkshire, England. With two children of her own and three very young grandchildren her time is shared between writing, painting and enjoying being part of her children’s lives. Look out for the sequel, ‘Ashes of Roses’ where the story continues to spin out in a whirlwind of gripping emotions.
