ALEXANDRE DUMAS (1802-1870). Romancier et dramaturge, fut l´un des pionniers du théâtre romantique en France. Fils de Thomas Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie, premier général de l´armée française ayant des origines afro-antillaises, et père de l´écrivain Alexandre Dumas, dit Dumas fils. Il connait un succès extraordinaire avec des drames comme « Henri III et sa cour » (1829), «La Tour de Nesle » (1832) et « Kean) (1836). Mais c´est avec ses romans historiques qu´il a atteint le sommet de sa popularité. La série démarre avec la trilogie « Les Trois Mousquetaires » (1844), « Vingt ans après » (1845) et « Le Vicomte de Bragelonne » (1847). Parallèlement il écrit « Le Comte de Monte-Cristo » (1844 -1846) et « La Reine Margot » (1845). « Le corricolo » (1843). Dans cette œuvre, Dumas fait le récit de son voyage à Rome et au royaume de Naples avec le peintre Louis Godefroy Jadin. Le titre est le nom italien du moyen de transport utilisé par l´écrivain dans ses déplacements autour de Naples.
