The loss of her life savings during the Wall Street catastrophe in late 2008 pushes Maureen to the brink when trying to find ways to salvage her home while caring for her house-bound husband. Within days of reversing a foreclosure on their house, her world crashes when her husband suddenly dies. Upheaval becomes a theme as Maureen, overwhelmed with grief, stumbles through daily change that demand attention. With the help of loved ones and friends she begins a new life. Along the way there are many experiences which seem magical and almost unbelievable. As Maureen spirals downward into the agony of sorrow she begins to write. Her accounts of the depth of emotions are intensified by events she feels driven to write down. Would anyone believe her mystical experiences? Her words flow into often pungent stories where cryptic beings of light and ghostly remnants of loved ones are as familiar to her as the stars in the night sky. Poetry, which began just before her husband's death, seems to stream from her fingers. Discovering a local New Age (Spiritualist) community, Maureen finds there are others such as herself. She finds people not only believe her, they 'see' what surrounds her; the powerful energetic forces unseen by most humans. Connecting with new friends she finds staunch and gifted allies full of love and offering helping hands. Choosing tools from the philosophies of the New Age and Metaphysical community, Maureen begins a journey of healing and self-discovery. Grief haunts daily life and when she hits bottom she uncovers unshakable self-truth and a purpose for her life - her reason for remaining behind when all she loved seemed to be stripped away. Her healing was infused with a peaceful and profound joy. She moves from grief to hope. She is surviving. More than that, Maureen begins to bloom and to thrive.

About the Author:
Maureen is retired from corporate America and lives in Arizona. Most of her work life had to do with management and leadership positions for a variety of companies. With her husband, she also co-owned a successful business for several years in Colorado. Maureen loves everything about leadership and leadership philosophies that promote the health and well-being of others as well as herself. In corporate America she was highly recognized for her leadership skills and contributions to the success of the company. After beginning a new life and becoming involved in the New Age community, Maureen was attuned to Reiki Master and became a Munay Ki Initiate. Practicing Reiki changed her life by way of greater overall health and sustaining a peaceful, joyous life. She also practices regular meditation and believes this is a key to self-truth, greater health and creating life's desires. Maureen laughingly defines herself as a “free spirit”. She was born during the era of of free spirits, commonly called hippies and lived true to form during that time period. When she recently defined herself once again as a free spirit it was like putting on old, comfy slippers. In an age where conformity seems to be the norm, Maureen shed old, disagreeable beliefs and created her own beliefs based mainly on research and a gut feeling of knowing what works best for her. Outside of daily writing, Maureen does a lot of research and reading with a wide range of interests surrounding spirituality. She especially loves topics related to Quantum Physics and the energy body. She dabbles in a variety of arts and crafts but her true love is writing. Poetry is a relatively new gift that generates self-amazement. Often, the lines of a new poem begin to form and Maureen must stop and write before the words are lost. She loves to offer her poetry and experiences when helping others who are ready for change.
