Hayato Tokugawa, who edited, illustrated, and annotated Reminiscences of Lafcadio Hearn, is a former San Francisco police office and instructor of Japanese martial arts turned journalist, author, editor, as well as a student of Japanese culture, art, and history, who divides his time between living in Japan and in San Francisco with his wife, two sons, three cats, and one dog.
