About the Author:
Comparative physiologist, specializing in invertebrate ecology and water balance, and in vertebrate anatomy & physiology for the health sciences. Published and instrumental in 28 scientific research papers. Former owner of water quality laboratory. Former member of municipal water board. Currently lives in Newport, Oregon with his wife Diana. They share their home with Sadie (Chocolate Labrador Retriever), Sybol (African Grey Timneh), and Q, (Cockatiel). Somewhat talented and fond of music, He realized that he was not good enough to be a music major, and majored in chemistry, zoology and botany. Earned a Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota. Became tenured at the University of South Dakota, the University of Saskatchewan (Regina), and the University of North Dakota until retired from full-time university teaching. Then taught various science classes at National University, Walla Walla Community College, University of Walla Walla, and Oregon Coast Community College.
