Daniel Boone. His very name evokes images of adventure, courage, and heroism. In 1769 a party under the leadership of Daniel Boone crossed the mountains, and entered Kentucky by way of Cumberland Gap. His adventures in this region for several years succeeding were numerous and exciting. He acquired the reputation of a mighty hunter, became dreaded by the Indians, and, though on several occasions taken prisoner, always managed to escape from their hands.
This little book is a great tribute to the legendary frontiersman which serves to immortalize Boone as an American legend and a true folk hero. It is told in an easy, folk-tale style that makes it very entertaining to read.
"Some men choose to live in crowded cities;--others are pleased with the peaceful quiet of a country farm; while some love to roam through wild forests, and make their homes in the wilderness. The man of whom I shall now speak, was one of this last class. "
