She readily admits that she is not an author by trade and though she is more comfortable beading in her workroom, she is happy to share her vast knowledge of her trade. Never having attended a fashion design school, Carlita learned to bead as a very small child sitting at her grandmother's knee. Her grandmother was a master at custom beadwork, originally from Palermo, and her craft was an employment skill she used when she came to America.
