Synopsis

Peter's mother and step sister Karen conspire to break up Peter and Jeneil. They enlist the help of a beautiful Chinese girl named Uette Wong, youngest daughter of a very distinguished and respected family in the Chinese community. When Peter is caught in a very compromising position with Uette and his mother is the witness. All hell breaks loose and Peter's life with Jeneil begins to collapse. Peter is called upon to "Save Face" to protect the reputations of both families. Peter claims he was "set up" and insists on an opportunity to prove his innocence. His entire future with Jeneil and as a doctor hangs in the balance. When Uette threatens harm to Jeneil; Peter asks Steve to watch over her and protect her while they are separated, even though he's aware that Steve has strong feelings for Jeniel (Maybe not such a good idea.) ****** The Songbird is a story of love, communication, murder, mystery, danger, betrayal, suspense, honesty and dignity, and a look at life and the trials of human relationships. Author Beverly Louise Oliver-Farrell has laid out The Songbird series from beginning to end, stacking one pivotal incident on top of the next. She has carefully interlocked the past, present and future in a not-so-perfect world. The Songbird navigates the reader through a maze of twists, turns and surprises while weaving it's characters and plot points together. Yet the author is able to keep the story's climax a secret until the final pages. ***** A Reader's Review - Lisa Cramer "I'm amazed how the writer can pull in, and leave you hungry for more, a true writer, a true soul. Anyone who receives the blessing of reading The Songbird, will be forever changed."

About the Author

Beverly Louise Oliver-Farrell was born in East Providence, R.I. on August 31, 1942. Her father passed away when she was four and her mother passed away when she was a teenager. Beverly, an Honor student wrote a series of short stories while attending East Providence High school in Rhode Island. The quality of her craft inspired the school to find her a scholarship, but family needs made it impossible to accept any offers. She continued to write throughout her life on various topics but never attempted to have her work published. The Songbird is a 12 year effort from the author and is presented in five volumes. Beverly Oliver married Brian B. Farrell in 1968. They were together for 39 years and were blessed with two sons Brian J. and Benjamin. Beverly's health started to diminish in 1994 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In her later years she continously battled major illnesses and pain. In the summer of 2007, Beverly suffered a massive stroke and eventually passed away November 13, 2007 in a nursing facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From Her Husband.... Beverly Louise Oliver-Farrell was never given the opportunity to show her incredible writing and storytelling gift to the world. She represents all of those with exceptional talent who are bypassed in life simply because the everyday existence of life's struggles never afforded her the opportunity to be recognized and showcased. Beverly talks about this "Conveyor Belt" of responsibility in "The Songbird" (Page 4/Volume One). To all you gifted talents out there who never get the opportunity to "jump off." This is for you. The original manuscript was handwritten in twelve five-subject notebooks over a twelve year period. I just couldn't allow such talent to be lost in a box in some attic. In Her Own Words... "In The Songbird, I try to show the importance of communication in our lives. I propose that we are all cocooned in four-sided Plexiglas cubicles. We see each other, and we faintly hear each other, so we think we are living, yet until we struggle to rise above the Plexiglas, we don't experience actual seeing and feeling in the dimension of reality. It's a bitter sweet experience filled with joys and sorrows. Those who are victorious seem to be an intelligent, sensitive and courageous people."
